A Graduate of V. G. Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University: From an International Student from Nigeria to Professional Success in Russia
Adeboye James Awofuye, from Nigeria, has built his professional and personal path in Russia. His studies at V. G. Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University (BSTU) gave him an opportunity not only to obtain a high-quality engineering education but also to determine the direction of his future career.
His academic journey comprised two stages. He first earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics and Robotics, and subsequently continued his studies at the Master’s level in Industrial Process Automation. His university education enabled him to deepen his professional expertise, develop the ability to work effectively with large volumes of information and perform successfully under demanding academic conditions.
His adaptation to life and study in Russia was accompanied by a number of challenges. The climate, language barrier and unfamiliar educational system required time and considerable effort to adjust to. Over time, however, these challenges became an important part of his personal development, strengthening his resilience and professional confidence.
His mentors played a significant role in his academic development. Yevgeny Borisovich Karikov, his academic supervisor, and Dmitry Alexandrovich Bushuyev, a university lecturer, supported him throughout his studies, helping him deepen his professional knowledge and successfully complete his degree.
Beyond his academic work, the graduate was actively involved in university life. He helped new students from African countries adapt to life in Russia, worked as an interpreter, participated in sporting events and represented the Nigerian student community.
Today, he applies his professional knowledge in the field of education, working as a programming instructor for children. His engineering education in Russia provides a solid foundation for his professional career and enables him to contribute to educational projects. His degree is also highly valued in Nigeria, providing him with additional opportunities for further professional development.
Looking ahead, he plans to continue developing cooperation with Russian educational institutions and companies, expand his own educational initiatives and share his experience with future international students.
