Today, the heroine of our feature is Loayza Solorzano Silvia Fatima from Ecuador, a fourth-year student at National Research University “Belgorod State University” (BelSU), majoring in Translation and Translation Studies.
“My journey to Russia began with a dream of receiving a high-quality education and immersing myself in a new culture. I chose BelSU, and this decision has fully lived up to my expectations. Russia has become not just a country where I study, but a second home, where I have made friends, discovered new opportunities, and realized my potential.
Education in Russia has opened many doors for me.
I am not only gaining professional knowledge in translation, but also actively participating in the university’s social and cultural life.
I am especially proud of my achievements:
• Finalist of the Russian National Student of the Year Award in the category ‘International Student of the Year’;
• Winner of the regional stage of the Student of the Year Award;
• Prize-winner of the International Competition ‘Tell the World About Your Homeland’.
I actively participate in organizing cultural events, work as a translator, and assist in organizing international conferences.
I am particularly passionate about the International Friendship Club, where we create a space for students from different cultural backgrounds to communicate and connect.
I am also a representative of the Spanish Conversation Club and the head of the Latin American student community at my university.
During my studies, I have learned to:
• work effectively in multicultural teams;
• organize large-scale events;
• communicate effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds;
• turn ideas into real projects.
In the future, I want to continue developing international projects that promote mutual understanding between peoples and strengthen friendly relations between Russia and Ecuador.
My advice to students and prospective applicants is: do not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
Studying abroad is a unique opportunity to change your life, make new friends, and discover unexpected talents within yourself.
Believe in yourself, and Russia will open up all its opportunities to you!”
